Open Book - Mad Props #7

Last night, I finished "The Abstinence Teacher," the fifth novel by Tom Perrotta, which was just published in October. What turned me on to his writing was Election, a film based on his second novel (and one of my favourite movies ever). Since then, I've read all his books. Each is very true-to-life, and punctuated with humour and heartache. His characters are likeable, even when they're making stupid mistakes (see the novel or film "Little Children"). I just found some of his short stories, articles, and essays on his website, which should keep me occupied for a while. There's also a great interview on The Onion's AV Club here. So, Mad Props to Tom Perrotta. Already, I can't wait for his next book.
