Gastronomic Heritage

I just got home from Joann and Jake's, who, in honour of MLK Day, hosted a soul food night at their place. Obviously I didn't partake of the ribs or fried chicken, but I stuffed myself on black-eyed peas and rice, fried okra, cornbread, and a few other delights. I doubt it's what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had in mind when he had a dream, but it's definitely what I'll be dreaming of tonight when I go to bed.
