There are certain things about military life I'll never get used to, such as making good friends, and then having to say good-bye. Case in point: a couple weeks ago, my good friend Marshall moved to Schreiver Air Force Base, Colorado. Marshall is one of the few people who maintained sanity in Iraq a few months ago, and helped me maintain mine. Also, Doug and his wife Brittany will be leaving for Minnesota in a couple days. Hanging out with them is always an adventure, and it will be sad to see them go.
Consequently, there are moments in the Air Force of pure joy, like today when we found out Kyle "K.O." Owens made Staff Sergeant. I'm very happy for him and can't think of anyone who deserves it more. Congratulations, Kyle!
